Who Would Have Thought...? (poem)
By Luke Labern
Who would have thought that what was for so long dreadedWith productivity wedded
T'wards all the right things headed
Confidence so well embedded?
Who would have thought that what was for so long feared
Would leave my conscience thus cleared
All thoughts of gloom thus cheered
And leave life so well revered?
Who would have thought that what I fought so long for
Could transform kindness to sore
Leave my own past abhorred
Left with a tainted decor?
Who would have thought that a year
Could go: from so far to so near? --
From no chance to all clear? --
From pointless to pioneer?
-- Not I.
No; not I.
